Accenture and Google launch AI agent program for US agencies
Accenture Federal Services, a subsidiary of Accenture (NYSE: ACN), and Google Public Sector announced the deployment of what they call Gemini launchpads, a program designed to help federal agencies build and scale AI agents using Google's Gemini models.
The initiative centers on embedding specialized Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) within federal agencies to build, deploy, and manage AI agents that connect to government data systems and automate complex workflows. Accenture Federal Services said it is training an initial cohort of Google Cloud-skilled FDEs as part of a broader commitment to establish a 1,000-person FDE workforce through its Gemini Enterprise Business Group.
The two companies are also developing pre-built agents targeting common government functions including HR, finance, and supply chain, intended to operate within the Gemini platform.

Ron Ash, CEO of Accenture Federal Services, said the goal is to deploy purpose-built agents "to transform work at the heart of government operations" by working alongside agency teams to address critical challenges.
Karen Dahut, CEO of Google Public Sector, said the collaboration pairs Gemini and cloud infrastructure with Accenture Federal Services' federal expertise to help agencies build agents suited to their specific operations.
Federal agencies can participate in hands-on workshops at The Forge in Washington, D.C., where a dedicated prototyping space called The Prototyping Lab offers live demonstrations of agent capabilities across various government functions.
