Telix and Ekalia to produce astatine-211 near Philadelphia

October 19, 2026 6:02 AM

Telix Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TLX) and Ekalia, a joint venture between IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A., EURONEXT) and Framatome, have announced a collaboration to produce astatine-211 (211At) in the United States, according to a press release issued Oct. 19, 2026.

The first IBA alpha-beam cyclotron under the agreement is planned for installation at Telix's RLS Radiopharmacies site in Trevose, near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The collaboration framework also allows the parties to evaluate additional installations across the RLS network as demand for 211At grows.

Astatine-211 is an alpha-emitting radioisotope under investigation for use in targeted alpha therapy (TAT). Its broader clinical adoption has been constrained by limited production capacity. The collaboration is intended to provide a dedicated U.S. source of the isotope for both Telix's internal pipeline and third-party academic and industry programs.

For Telix, the arrangement is expected to support development of TLX102-Tx (211At astato-L-phenylalanine), a TAT candidate being evaluated for glioblastoma and leptomeningeal disease, along with other future 211At programs.

Chad Watkins, General Manager of Isotope Strategy at Telix, said: "Owning the path from isotope to patient is central to our development and commercialization strategy. This collaboration gives Telix a dedicated, long-term source of astatine-211 to advance our alpha therapy pipeline."

Ekalia CEO Bruno Scutnaire noted that Telix's U.S. infrastructure enables faster establishment of the first U.S. production unit, building on work IBA and Framatome have undertaken in Europe.

Ekalia is described as a company in formation. IBA and Framatome previously formed a strategic partnership in Europe aimed at industrial-scale 211At production, which this collaboration extends into the U.S. market.
