Xpeng to integrate Google Play into vehicles starting early 2027
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKEX: 9868) announced a native integration of Google Play into its vehicles, expanding an existing collaboration with Google. The integration is scheduled to go live in early 2027, according to a company statement.
Built on Android Automotive OS, the integration will give Xpeng drivers and passengers access to hundreds of automotive-optimized apps spanning music, video streaming, navigation, charging, parking, gaming, and other services from more than 100 countries and regions. Users will be able to access these apps without a connected phone and interact with them through Xpeng's multilingual voice assistant.
Because developers publish updates through Google Play continuously, the in-car app library can expand without requiring full over-the-air vehicle software updates, the company said.

Haris Ramic, Android for Cars Product Director at Google, said: "Bringing Google Play to Xpeng vehicles gives drivers even more choice to enjoy the entertainment and everyday apps they love right from their dashboard, with no phone required."
The announcement follows Xpeng's integration of Google Maps' Auto SDK, announced in July 2026, which introduced navigation features for Xpeng drivers and provided map capabilities for the company's driver-assistance systems in overseas markets.
Xpeng said further details on participating vehicle models, markets, and app availability will be announced at a later date. The two companies said they plan to continue exploring additional collaborations.
