Groupon relaunches LivingSocial as an AI agent-focused marketplace

October 15, 2026 9:21 AM

Groupon, Inc. (NASDAQ: GRPN) has relaunched LivingSocial as an "agent-first" experience marketplace, designed to allow personal AI agents to discover, compare, and purchase local experiences on behalf of users. The platform is currently in public preview with more than 50,000 local experiences listed across the United States.

The relaunched LivingSocial allows an AI agent to open a shopping session without an account or API key, search and compare offers, prepare a cart, and share a checkout link with the user. After payment, the agent can retrieve redemption codes. Groupon's existing customer support and refund policies apply to purchases made through the platform.

Groupon Chief Executive Officer Dusan Senkypl said in a statement: "We believe agents will become the dominant pathway by which people discover, compare and buy local experiences. Experience operators need to be found all over again as people hand more of their planning to agents."

The marketplace draws from existing eligible Groupon offers, requiring no additional setup from experience operators. Launch partners include Edge Immersive Observation Deck, Go City, and Big Bus Tours. The platform currently does not support time-slot reservations at purchase, though Groupon said that feature is planned, along with agent payment and direct business listings.

Groupon described LivingSocial as part of its internal initiative called Project Foundry, which the company said is focused on becoming an AI-native company. The relaunch is based on information provided in a Groupon press release.
