ServiceNow launches updated EmployeeWorks AI platform with no-code tools

October 15, 2026 9:01 AM

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) announced updates to its EmployeeWorks platform, introducing tools that allow employees to build and customize AI agents without writing code, according to a company press release.

The updated platform is powered by what ServiceNow describes as a third-generation employee-centric AI harness. Key additions include Productivity Assistants, Productivity Routines, a new developer environment called ToolSmith, and a Conversations API.

Productivity Assistants are specialized AI assistants designed for persona-based work, capable of handling long-running tasks and cross-system operations. Pre-built assistants are available for HR Service Delivery functions, including a Talent Insights Assistant, an HR Business Partner Assistant, and a Manager Assistant. Two additional out-of-the-box assistants — a Research Assistant and a Calendaring Assistant — are also included.

Productivity Routines allow employees to build agents that execute repetitive tasks automatically in the background, without requiring knowledge of backend systems or API integrations.

ToolSmith is a developer environment trained on more than 75,000 APIs that allows developers to describe automation goals in natural language. ServiceNow states the tool reduces complex build times from weeks to minutes.

The Conversations API enables organizations to integrate EmployeeWorks capabilities into existing internal applications and other tools without rearchitecting systems.

Two customers cited results from earlier deployments. The Salvation Army Australia reported its AI assistant, named Goldie, resolves nine out of ten questions without escalation and has returned more than 5,000 hours to staff. INRY, a Cprime Company, reported a 60% reduction in internal request submission times and a 97% completion rate after deploying ServiceNow EmployeeWorks.

Productivity Assistants, Productivity Routines, ToolSmith, and the Conversations API are currently in controlled availability.
