United Airlines expands Starlink rollout, launches flight tracker tool
United Airlines has equipped more than 635 aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi, covering nearly half of its daily departures, according to a company statement dated Oct. 15, 2026.
The airline, whose parent company United Airlines Holdings trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker UAL, said it is installing Starlink on approximately 20 aircraft per week and plans to complete the rollout across its fleet by the end of 2027. The airline said more than 250,000 passengers per day fly on Starlink-equipped aircraft, across more than 2,500 daily flights. Cumulatively, more than 37.7 million passengers have flown on Starlink-powered aircraft across more than 538,000 flights, with 14 million devices connected.
United launched a new digital tool, StarlinkTracker.United.com, that allows customers to check whether Starlink is available on a specific upcoming flight by entering travel dates and flight numbers within three days of departure. The tracker also displays rollout statistics by aircraft type and availability percentages across United's hubs in Chicago, Newark, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, and Denver.

The airline also extended its "Switch to Better Wi-Fi" status match campaign by one week to October 22. The campaign, which launched October 1, targets eligible Delta SkyMiles and American AAdvantage members, offering them the opportunity to earn United Premier status through January 2028 by meeting spending thresholds and completing a qualifying flight within 90 days. Spending requirements range from $1,500 for Premier Silver to $7,000 for Premier 1K status.
United said status match applications during the campaign period were 275% above pre-campaign levels, with the highest participant volumes coming from New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
"The overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers and strong response to our 'Switch to Better Wi-Fi' status match offer show how much that matters," said Andrew Nocella, United's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
