Mastercard launches fiat and stablecoin platform with BVNK

October 15, 2026 6:01 AM

Mastercard and BVNK have launched the Mastercard Global Money Platform, combining Mastercard's payments infrastructure with BVNK's stablecoin technology through a single API, according to a press release from the companies.

The platform marks the first major product integration since Mastercard acquired BVNK in August 2026. It allows banks, fintechs, and enterprises to embed multi-currency accounts supporting both fiat and stablecoins, real-time currency conversion, stablecoin-linked cards, and local bank payouts via Mastercard Move.

Mastercard Move currently reaches more than 17 billion endpoints. The company said coverage is expected to expand to more than 40 currencies across 200-plus countries and territories by 2027. Stablecoin balances can also be spent at hundreds of millions of merchant locations across Mastercard's acceptance network, with card issuing available in more than 130 countries.

Nuvei and Marqeta will be among the first companies to integrate the platform, alongside Ontop, Beem, and Almond FinTech.

The platform is structured as a modular toolkit covering sending, receiving, converting, storing, spending, and earning. Mastercard said future support is planned for agentic commerce and tokenized deposits.

"Global Money Platform will become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money," said Chris Harmse, co-founder and chief business officer at BVNK.

Raj Dhamodharan, executive vice president of Blockchain and Digital Assets at Mastercard, said the platform "brings together Mastercard's trusted payment infrastructure and reach with BVNK's stablecoin capabilities, giving businesses a single foundation to move value across traditional and digital ecosystems."

Mastercard Global Money Platform is available now through BVNK.
