October 15, 2026 6:01 AM

Beam Global (NASDAQ: BEEM) announced that ScoutDI, a drone company Beam Global has agreed to acquire, received an order for its Scout 137 drone inspection systems from an undisclosed nuclear sector customer. The customer and order details were not disclosed for security reasons.

The Scout 137 drones and accompanying software will be used to perform inspections and support personnel safety in nuclear facilities. Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley said the company anticipates the customer will begin using ScoutDI's drones and AI-enhanced software in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Beam Global entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ScoutDI on Oct. 7, 2026. The transaction is expected to close in early November 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

The Scout 137 is a tethered drone designed for confined-space inspection. It captures 4K visual data, ultrasonic thickness measurements, and 3D LiDAR data in a single flight and has completed more than 7,000 recorded inspection flights. The system is used across maritime and offshore, oil and gas, power generation, mining, and critical infrastructure sectors. ScoutDI is headquartered in Trondheim, Norway, and its products are used in more than 25 countries.

ScoutDI CEO Nicolai Husteli said the nuclear sector order represents a milestone for the company, noting recent order intake across new segments, geographies, and its partner network.

According to a January 2026 report from Research and Markets, the global nuclear inspection services market is projected to grow from $2.96 billion in 2025 to $4.27 billion by 2030, at a compound annual growth rate of 7.6%.
