Lululemon reorganizes fabric team after product quality complaints - Bloomberg

October 14, 2026 4:10 PM

Investing.com -- Lululemon Athletica Inc (NASDAQ: LULU) has reorganized its fabric development team and eliminated seven roles following a series of product quality mishaps, according to a Bloomberg report. The Vancouver-based athletic apparel retailer made the structural changes in August to shift certain raw material capabilities closer to vendor partners in key international hubs.

The organizational shift reflects broader efforts to strengthen supply chain execution and prevent recurring product flaws that have weighed on consumer sentiment. Company job postings currently list open raw materials development positions in Taipei, Taiwan, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The adjustments follow operational missteps earlier this year, including the temporary suspension of online sales for the brand's Get Low collection after customers complained the tights were see-through. Roughly a month later, Lululemon faced renewed scrutiny when its heart-patterned leggings drew similar criticism regarding sheer fabric.

Quality control challenges have periodically tested the retailer's brand equity and product reputation over the past decade. In 2024, the company halted sales of its Breezethrough leggings due to fit concerns, a move reminiscent of its high-profile 2013 recall that removed nearly 20% of its women's bottoms from store shelves.

The operational realignment occurred just prior to Chief Executive Officer Heidi O'Neill taking the helm at Lululemon. Investors are likely to watch whether relocating raw materials expertise closer to production partners will improve quality oversight and protect product margins going forward.
