Leonardo DRS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DRS) has been awarded a $500 million ceiling indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from the Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401), according to a company statement. The contract carries a three-year period of performance.

Under the agreement, Leonardo DRS will be eligible to compete for task orders focused on the rapid delivery of integrated counter-UAS (C-UAS) sensing capabilities. The contract covers force protection and low-altitude air defense missions.

"Today's threat environment is evolving faster than ever, and our customers need proven capabilities delivered at operational speed," said John Baylouny, president and chief executive officer of Leonardo DRS.

Max Cohen, senior vice president and general manager at Leonardo DRS RADA Technologies, noted that the company's counter-UAS and air defense radars have demonstrated detection, tracking, and force protection performance in operational environments.

Leonardo DRS produces radar and sensing systems that support counter-UAS, counter-rocket, artillery and mortar, and short-range air defense missions. The IDIQ structure allows the government to place task orders throughout the contract's three-year period of performance, though no specific task orders have been announced.
