Yiren Digital updates investors amid controlling shareholder probe

October 14, 2026 6:04 AM

Yiren Digital Ltd. (NYSE: YRD) issued an update on its operations as an investigation involving affiliates of its controlling shareholder continues, according to a press release from the Beijing-based company.

The company stated that the investigation relates to business activities outside of Yiren Digital and is not directly related to its own operations. Yiren Digital said it maintains financial reporting and day-to-day operations separate from those of its controlling shareholder and does not provide financial guarantees of any kind to the controlling shareholder or its affiliates.

The company previously disclosed related-party financial arrangements in filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, released on September 30, 2026, the company recognized a provision for credit losses on certain related-party loan receivables following a reassessment of their recoverability. The company said it continues to assess any potential additional financial impact from recent developments.

Yiren Digital reaffirmed its intention to continue a share repurchase program authorized by its board on July 2, 2026, covering up to $20 million over a 12-month period. The company reported holding cash and cash equivalents of approximately RMB1.7 billion ($250 million) as of June 30, 2026, and said it believes it has sufficient resources to continue the program, subject to market conditions, regulatory requirements, and liquidity needs.
