BigBear.ai wins $225M+ in federal AI contracts since July
BigBear.ai (NYSE: BBAI), a McLean, Virginia-based defense and security technology company, announced it has secured more than $225 million in contract awards since July across homeland security, defense, intelligence and federal civilian agencies.
The awards include more than 25 new generative AI contracts at federal agencies, among them the FBI, NASA, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Department of Energy and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The contracts cover access to generative AI platforms and tools, including deployments in disconnected and air-gapped environments.
BigBear.ai also won recompetes with partners SAIC and Unissant for work supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), focused on monitoring the movement of travelers and cargo across U.S. borders. Additional contracts cover U.S. Central Command, U.S. Southern Command and undisclosed classified intelligence customers.

"Retaining critical work with CBP while adding the FBI, the Coast Guard and new defense and intelligence customers is proof of a strong foundation and an expanding customer base," said Kevin McAleenan, CEO of BigBear.ai.
The company noted that the $225 million figure represents total contract value, including unexercised options and ceiling values, and does not necessarily reflect funded amounts. As of June 30, 2026, BigBear.ai reported total backlog of approximately $270 million, of which approximately 29% was funded.
