Teledyne FLIR Defense unveils Ranger R10-3DX counter-drone radar
Teledyne FLIR Defense, a unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: TDY), introduced the Ranger R10-3DX, a compact mid-range counter-drone radar system, at the Association of the United States Army Annual Meeting and Exposition 2026.
The radar is designed for use in counter-drone, force protection, airport security, border security, and coastal surveillance missions. It uses digital beam-forming technology to provide continuous wide-area coverage and is built to MIL-STD-810H and MIL-STD-461G standards.
According to the company, the Ranger R10-3DX can detect micro-unmanned aircraft system targets at ranges exceeding 3 kilometers, pedestrians beyond 6 kilometers, and light vehicles at more than 12 kilometers. A single radar panel provides 90-degree azimuth and up to 60 degrees of elevation coverage, while a four-panel configuration delivers full 360-degree surveillance.

The system incorporates AI-based target classification algorithms to distinguish between drones, aircraft, birds, pedestrians, and vehicles. It is capable of tracking multiple targets simultaneously and is compatible with fixed-site installations or mobile platforms. The radar also integrates with electro-optical and infrared sensors and mitigation systems.
"Small unmanned aircraft continue to present growing security challenges across military installations, airports, and other key infrastructure sites worldwide," said Rob Tarantino, Senior Vice President of Surveillance at Teledyne FLIR Defense. "The Ranger R10-3DX gives operators an affordable, compact, and highly capable radar solution that delivers the early warning and tracking performance needed to counter evolving drone threats."
The Ranger R10-3DX is scheduled to be available in the first quarter of 2027.
