Workday launches Sana as new home interface with AI service agent
Workday, Inc. (NASDAQ: WDAY) announced at its Workday Rising 2026 conference in Las Vegas that Sana, its AI assistant, is now the default home interface for its HR, finance, and IT platform. The company also introduced Sana Concierge, an AI service agent designed to handle employee HR and IT requests without generating support tickets.
The new Workday Home consolidates tasks, decisions, meetings, and agent activity into a single interface. Employees can submit requests in natural language, and Sana coordinates Workday agents to complete actions such as approving expenses, processing leave requests, or resetting passwords. The interface is personalized based on each employee's role, schedule, and permissions.
The experience is powered in part by Jev, an intelligence model developed by TypeSafe AI, which allows Sana to generate interactive elements such as forms, calendars, and approval cards in real time rather than displaying a static screen.

Sana Concierge combines previously announced self-service capabilities, Sana for IT Service Management, and Workday Help and Case Agent into one service experience. It is designed to resolve requests — including onboarding, offboarding, leave questions, payroll inquiries, password resets, and application access — by applying company policies and permissions and taking authorized action across connected systems. When human judgment is required, the relevant specialist receives case history and recommended next steps.
"AI is the new UI," said Joel Hellermark, chief AI officer at Workday. "Users shouldn't have to decide which agent to use, just as they shouldn't have to click between dozens of different systems."
The new Workday Home is currently available, with additional capabilities planned. Sana Concierge is available to early adopter customers and is expected to reach general availability in the first calendar quarter of 2027. Business administrators can choose whether to enable the experience and set it as the default for their organizations.
