Calix SmartLife apps now available on prplOS devices

October 12, 2026 10:00 AM

Calix, Inc. (NYSE: CALX) announced that its SmartLife subscriber applications are now available for prplOS-based devices, according to a company press release.

The applications, which the company says are used by millions of subscribers across more than 1,000 service providers worldwide, are designed to operate within open, prpl-compliant management environments. The move allows providers to deploy SmartLife across prplOS gateways without requiring custom integrations for individual hardware platforms.

The SmartLife portfolio includes SmartHome for residential subscribers, SmartBiz for small businesses, SmartMDU for multi-dwelling units, and SmartTown for community Wi-Fi deployments. The applications cover features such as cybersecurity, parental controls, and community-wide Wi-Fi.

Calix cited performance data from existing deployments, stating that SmartHome has contributed to Net Promoter Scores in the 90s for some providers and average revenue per user growth of 20 percent. SmartBiz deployments have reportedly driven overall ARPU growth of 35 percent and doubled business fiber ARPU in some cases.

Dr. Leonard Dauphinee, president of the prpl Foundation, said: "Bringing Calix subscriber applications to the prpl ecosystem gives operators more flexibility to differentiate their services while extending the value of an open platform."

Shane Eleniak, chief product officer at Calix, said: "Global providers should not have to spend years building, integrating, and refining new applications to deliver differentiated subscriber experiences. Supporting SmartLife on prpl extends the vision we established with EXOS on Calix One: an architecture designed to give providers choice and flexibility while making it easier to bring differentiated experiences to subscribers."

SmartLife on prplOS connects to Calix's Calix One platform. The applications operate within existing prpl-compliant ACS/USP management environments and support provider choice across gateway, chipset, and infrastructure configurations.
