York Space Systems wins two Space Force Space Data Network task orders
York Space Systems (NYSE: YSS) has received two task orders under the United States Space Force's (USSF) Space Data Network (SDN) program, according to a press release from the Denver-based company.
The first award, Delivery Order 2 (DO2), tasks York with supporting a multi-vendor interoperability demonstration involving the SDN-Backbone constellation. The work will evaluate approaches for connecting spacecraft and ground elements through multiple data-exchange paths.
The second award, Delivery Order 3 (DO3), covers Phase A of a Space Exchange Point (SEP) on-orbit demonstration effort. Under this order, York will support the definition of spacecraft bus-to-payload interfaces and payload-integration planning, including planning products intended to inform a potential subsequent on-orbit prototyping phase.
The Space Data Network is a Space Force program aimed at advancing integrated, high-capacity, low-latency space-based data-transport capabilities using commercially derived technologies.

"These efforts are intended to help inform approaches for integrating payload capabilities through common interfaces," said Melanie Preisser, executive vice president and general manager of York.
Chief Executive Officer Dirk Wallinger said the awards allow the company to apply its spacecraft-platform, payload-integration, and ground-system experience to support the program's development objectives.
The two delivery orders build on York's existing participation in the SDN acquisition vehicle.
