Microchip Technology (Nasdaq: MCHP) announced an expansion of its data center product portfolio, introducing new offerings in PCIe connectivity, NVMe storage and RAID acceleration, according to a company statement dated Oct. 12, 2026.

The new Switchtec PCIe 6.0 Low-Lane-Count switch provides up to 64 PCIe Gen 6 lanes, 32 ports and multiple bifurcation options. The device includes integrated Direct Memory Access for peer-to-peer data movement, PCIe Multicast and partitioning capabilities, and hardware root of trust and secure boot security features.

Microchip also updated its Flashtec NVMe 5016 controller, a PCIe Gen 5 device, adding support for the Commercial National Security Algorithm Suite 2.0, which the company said is intended to address post-quantum security requirements. The updated controller also adds dual-port capability for redundant data paths, along with advanced virtualization and Quality of Service management.

The company expanded its Adaptec SmartRAID 4300 family of NVMe RAID storage accelerators with several updates, including support for self-encrypting drives with local and remote key management, RAID 6 and RAID 60 configurations, and compatibility with Linux, Debian, Ubuntu and Microsoft Windows 11. Additional updates include dynamic NVMe configuration, persistent event logging and StorageCore API support for third-party tool integration.

"Customers are looking for technology partners that can address multiple challenges across the infrastructure stack while helping simplify design and accelerate deployment," said Brian McCarson, corporate vice president and general manager of Microchip's data center solutions business unit.

Pricing and availability for the new products were not disclosed and vary by device.
