Volkswagen said Monday that deliveries tumbled 38.5% in China, its largest market, and are down 30.2% since January. They fell 5.8% in North America and 2.8% in Western Europe, but rose 1.4% in Central and Eastern Europe.

Still, the group’s shares rose more than 1% in early Frankfurt trading.

In the U.S., Volkswagen of America sales fell 10.9% to 78,179 vehicles. SUV sales dropped 16.2%, as ID.4 electric SUV sales fell 92% to 989 vehicles from 12,470. Atlas sales fell 19.5%.

Audi of America’s third-quarter sales fell 15% to 39,751 vehicles, and sales for the first nine months fell 16% to 107,667. Audi said newly introduced sedan and SUV models posted double-digit growth, including the A5, up 53% to 5,315 vehicles, the A3, up 58%, the Q5, up 17% to 11,371, and the Q8, up 103%.

Electric model sales fell sharply. The Q6 e-tron dropped 94% to 619 vehicles and the Q4 e-tron fell to eight from 2,956. Certified pre-owned sales were little changed at 11,510. Audi plans to introduce the new Q9 and Q7 in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Traton’s unit sales rose 10% to 78,900 vehicles, a further acceleration after 4% growth in the second quarter. Sales for the first nine months rose 3% to 230,400.

International Motors, Traton’s U.S. brand, led with a 48% jump to 19,900 trucks on "a strong recovery in customer demand," the company said.

Scania rose 3% to 22,100, helped by production ramp-up at a new plant in China and a government-backed loan program in Brazil. Volkswagen Truck & Bus gained 5% to 12,500, while MAN slipped 1% to 24,500. All-electric unit sales fell 6% to 770.
