October 9, 2026 6:10 AM

Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced that 95% of its Medicare Advantage members are enrolled in plans rated 4.0 stars or above by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2027, up from the prior year. Additionally, 42% of Humana's Medicare Advantage members are in plans rated 4.5 stars.

CMS rates Medicare Advantage and Part D plans annually on a 5-star scale based on quality of care, member experience, and customer service.

For 2027, Humana has six Medicare Advantage contracts rated 4.5 stars and 12 rated 4.0 stars, representing 11 additional contracts rated 4.0 stars or above compared to the prior year. Humana's PDP contract also received a 4.5-star rating for 2027.

According to the company, compared with the prior year, 663,000 more care opportunities were met and 534,000 additional members completed an annual preventive visit. The company reported that member engagement efforts led to 28,000 members receiving overdue mammograms, identifying 600 previously undetected breast cancers. An additional 93,000 members completed overdue colorectal cancer screenings, identifying 100 previously undetected cases of precancers and cancers. Another 73,000 members living with diabetes received overdue eye exams, identifying 17,000 previously undetected cases of diabetes-related eye disease.

"Helping a member get an overdue screening means identifying a serious condition sooner, when there are more treatment options and better outcomes," said Shantanu Nundy, M.D., Humana's Chief Medical Officer.

The Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan Annual Election Period begins Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7, 2026, with coverage taking effect Jan. 1, 2027.
