Alignment Healthcare earns 4-star ratings on six of seven Medicare plans

October 8, 2026 5:01 PM

Alignment Healthcare (NASDAQ: ALHC) announced that six of its seven eligible Medicare Advantage contracts received 4 Stars or higher in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' 2027 Star Ratings, published Oct. 8, 2026.

Three of the company's contracts achieved a 4.5-Star rating. The high-rated contracts cover plans in Arizona, California, Nevada, North Carolina, and Texas.

The company's California H3815 HMO contract received a 3.5-Star rating. Alignment Healthcare said it believes the rating does not accurately reflect the contract's performance on evidence-based quality measures, clinical outcomes, and member experience.

Dawn Maroney, president of Alignment Health and CEO of Alignment Health Plan, said the company intends to pursue administrative remedies and litigation over the measures and methodologies applied to the H3815 contract. "We believe the current Star Ratings framework has drifted too far from that goal and no longer consistently reflects quality, outcomes and member experiences," Maroney said.

The company said it plans to seek a return of the H3815 contract to at least a 4-Star rating in a future rating year.

CMS publishes Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D Star Ratings annually on Medicare.gov. The five-star system evaluates health plan performance using member feedback, healthcare quality indicators, customer service metrics, and clinical performance measures.
