Astera Labs launches PCIe 7 signal conditioning portfolio

October 8, 2026 9:01 AM

Astera Labs (Nasdaq: ALAB) announced its Aries 7 signal conditioning portfolio on Oct. 8, 2026, which the company claims is the first PCIe 7 product line spanning both copper and optical interconnects.

The portfolio includes smart retimers, redrivers, cable modules, optical drivers, and optical transimpedance amplifiers. According to the company, the lineup is designed to support PCIe 7 connectivity ranging from chip-to-chip connections up to distances exceeding 50 meters over optical cables across multiple racks.

Aries 7 Smart Retimers and Smart Redrivers support the OCP Signal Conditioner Standard Footprint, which allows board designs to accommodate different signal conditioners without requiring redesigns as requirements change. The full portfolio is managed through Astera Labs' COSMOS software suite for monitoring, diagnostics, and tuning.

AMD and Intel have each validated earlier Aries Smart Retimers across PCIe generations 4 through 6 and are collaborating with Astera Labs on the PCIe 7 transition, according to the press release. Optical partners Lumentum and Lumilens are also named as collaborators on near package optics and linear pluggable optics implementations.

"The real question for architects isn't retimer vs redriver, or copper vs optical: it's whether they have one comprehensive toolbox with the optionality to pick the right tool for their evolving reach, density and power requirements," said Adit Narasimha, senior vice president, Signal Connectivity Group at Astera Labs.

Sampling of the Aries 7 products is expected to begin in Q4 2026 for select hyperscale, OEM, and near package optics customers, with broader availability anticipated after platform qualification. Astera Labs plans to demonstrate PCIe 7 copper and optical solutions at the 2026 Open Compute Project Global Summit, scheduled for Oct. 12–15 in San Jose.
