Ameresco wins $42M meter modernization deal in Columbia, MO
Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE: AMRC) has secured a $42 million contract with the City of Columbia, Missouri, to replace and modernize electric and water metering infrastructure across the city, according to a company press release.
The project will replace approximately 53,992 electric meters and 52,747 water meters. Work will also include installation of a new Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) network, meter data management software, and integration with the city's existing billing and customer portal systems.
The upgrade is intended to replace metering infrastructure that has exceeded its useful life. Expected outcomes include near real-time usage data access, faster outage and leak detection, more accurate billing, reduced field service costs, and improved data for infrastructure planning.

Gwen Corches, Assistant Director of Electric Utility for the City of Columbia, said the modernization will give the city better visibility into system performance and allow faster responses to service needs.
The AMI contract adds to an existing relationship between Ameresco and Columbia that includes a separate project to modernize HVAC systems and interior lighting at the Armory Sports and Recreation Center.
Ameresco noted the project was included in its previously reported awarded backlog as of June 30, 2026, and cautioned that the contract announcement is not necessarily indicative of the timing or amount of revenue to be recognized.
