Lisata gets new patent for certepetide in pancreatic cancer treatment
Lisata Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: LSTA) announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted a new method of use patent for its drug candidate certepetide, covering its use in treating pancreatic cancer and other solid tumors.
The patent, U.S. Patent No. 12,751,991, is titled "Methods for Treating Pancreatic Cancer and Other Solid Tumors" and expires in May 2041. It covers administering certepetide in combination with at least one anti-cancer agent or therapy to treat pancreatic cancer and other solid tumors, including metastatic, refractory, and drug-resistant cancers.
David J. Mazzo, Ph.D., chief executive officer of Lisata, said the patent "secures important protection for the broad use of certepetide and provides added market exclusivity into November 2043, which is essential to support its continued development."

Certepetide is a cyclic peptide investigational drug designed to activate an uptake pathway that allows co-administered anti-cancer drugs to target and penetrate solid tumors. The company states the drug has shown favorable safety and tolerability results in completed and ongoing clinical trials evaluating its ability to enhance standard-of-care chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer.
Lisata is a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company based in Liberty Corner, N.J. Its lead product candidate, MAR001, is in Phase 2b clinical development for the treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia. The company is also advancing MAR002 for the treatment of acromegaly.
