SolarEdge Technologies (NASDAQ: SEDG) has appointed Gokul Krishnan as Senior Vice President and General Manager of North America, the company announced. Krishnan, who is based in California, has already begun serving in the role.

Krishnan joins SolarEdge from Enphase Energy, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the consumer business unit and previously led the microinverter business unit and global business development. Before Enphase, he was Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of SunEdison's Residential and Small Commercial business, and Vice President and General Manager of its global module business. He also held senior roles at Cypress Semiconductor and Xilinx.

Krishnan holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA from the Wharton School, and a B.Tech from IIT Madras, and completed postdoctoral work at MIT.

He succeeds Amir Cohen, who led SolarEdge's North America organization and will support the transition while continuing to work on other initiatives at the company.

SolarEdge CEO Shuki Nir said in a statement: "North America is a key market for us. Gokul's background makes him the right leader to accelerate the adoption of our next-generation DC-optimized technologies."

The Milpitas, California-based company develops solar inverters, power optimizers, energy storage, and grid services products for residential and commercial markets.
