Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders 10 Airbus aircraft
Investing.com -- Biman Bangladesh Airlines placed a firm order for 10 Airbus aircraft on Wednesday, including four A350-900 widebody planes and six A321neo single-aisle jets.
The national flag carrier of Bangladesh will use the aircraft to modernize its fleet and expand international routes. The airline plans to serve North America along with destinations in Europe and the Middle East from its main hub in Dhaka.
Rumee A. Hossain, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said Bangladesh is a nation of 200 million people with a growing travel market and a global diaspora of 15 million people. He described the fleet expansion as a measured ambition given these circumstances.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of Sales at Airbus Commercial Aircraft, said the order represents an important phase of fleet modernization for the airline. He added that the A350 and A321neo will provide efficiency, range and versatility to connect Bangladesh to global markets.

The A350-900 can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles without stopping and offers a 25% reduction in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide emissions compared to older competitor aircraft. The plane features Rolls-Royce engines and lightweight materials.
The A321neo provides at least 20% lower fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions than previous-generation aircraft. The plane serves regional and medium-haul routes.
Bangladesh's demographic profile and economic growth are driving demand in the aviation sector. International travel remains strong due to a large overseas diaspora in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
