IBM launches SAP cloud ERP solution for midsize companies

October 7, 2026 6:02 AM

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced a new offering called IBM Ready for SAP Solutions, designed to help midsize and fast-growing organizations modernize cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and prepare for AI adoption, according to a company statement dated Oct. 7, 2026.

The solution combines IBM's consulting capabilities with SAP cloud ERP technology. IBM said the offering is currently available in limited countries and for specific industries, with plans to expand globally.

Two companies are cited as early clients. Volumetric Building Companies (VBC), a modular construction firm, completed a three-month SAP Cloud ERP implementation with IBM and reported a 50% reduction in operational cycle times across purchasing, manufacturing, and inventory processes.

"By modernizing our ERP environment with IBM, we now have unified visibility across our supply chain and operations," said Chris Macies, COO of Volumetric Building Companies.

Second Nature Brands, a snack and treats company, used the solution to integrate its acquired Voortman Bakery business onto a common enterprise platform. Jeff O'Gradney, VP of IT at Second Nature Brands, said the implementation positioned the company to scale as a single organization.

IBM cited research from its Institute for Business Value indicating that 68% of enterprises view accelerating ERP modernization as important to operational efficiency and competitiveness.

SAP's Santina Franchi said the partnership extends SAP's GROW Fast methodology, which the company says can enable cloud ERP go-lives in weeks.
