SoCalGas' relocation to 2CAL at 350 S. Grand Ave. marks a new chapter in the company's nearly 160-year history in Los Angeles.

"Downtown L.A. serves as the economic, cultural and civic heart of our city and is essential to a vibrant Los Angeles," said Mayor Bass. "We celebrate SoCalGas' continued commitment to Los Angeles and its role in supporting the revitalization and success of our city and its core."

"For nearly 160 years, SoCalGas has provided safe, affordable and reliable energy that has helped Los Angeles grow, powering homes and businesses across the region," said Caroline Winn, chair of the board of SoCalGas. "From our earliest days lighting Main Street with gas lamps to serving more than 21 million consumers today, we are proud to continue building on that legacy. As we begin this next chapter in downtown Los Angeles, we remain committed to strengthening the communities we serve."

The event also brought together Assemblymember Mark González and other business and community leaders.

"SoCalGas has been a longstanding community partner: investing in our neighborhoods, supporting local organizations, and helping improve the quality of life for the people it serves," said Assemblymember González. "This commitment is one of the many reasons the company continues to be such a vital part of Los Angeles and Southern California."

"SoCalGas has been part of the downtown L.A. community for generations, and we are proud to celebrate this milestone with them," said Nella McOsker, president and chief executive officer of the Central City Association of Los Angeles. "We applaud them for keeping hundreds of jobs in our city's central business district, helping support a vibrant and thriving downtown."

"Affordable and reliable energy is essential to businesses of every size, from small businesses to major employers across our region," said Maria S. Salinas, president and chief executive officer of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. "SoCalGas plays an important role by continuing to provide the energy that helps power economic growth and serve communities across Los Angeles and Southern California."

"We are thrilled to welcome SoCalGas to 2CAL and look forward to supporting its continued success in the heart of the city," said Shaul Kuba, co-founder and principal of CIM Group, which manages 2CAL. "2CAL offers a dynamic workplace environment for SoCalGas employees, and we are proud that the property will serve as the company's new downtown L.A. home."

Founded as the Los Angeles Gas Company in 1867, the company helped illuminate a growing city with gas lamps along Main Street near what is now Los Angeles Plaza. Nearly 160 years later, SoCalGas remains headquartered in downtown Los Angeles, having relocated within the city's core only three times throughout its history.

As one of the largest employers in downtown Los Angeles, SoCalGas will have more than 700 employees working from its new headquarters at 2CAL, where the company serves as the building's anchor tenant.
