Butterfly Network and Bridge Neurotech partner on non-invasive BCI research
Butterfly Network, Inc. (NYSE: BFLY) and Bridge Neurotech have announced a multi-year research and development agreement under which Bridge will license Butterfly's Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology to pursue a non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI).
Bridge Neurotech, founded in 2026 and emerging from stealth alongside the announcement, is developing a functional ultrasound imaging platform combined with AI-based neural decoding. The company's stated goal is to image and decode brain activity through the skull without surgery or implants. The agreement was made through Butterfly's Butterfly Embedded™ licensing and co-development unit.
Under the terms of the deal, Bridge will make payments to Butterfly for technology access and development milestones, and has committed to purchasing Butterfly hardware. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Bridge also announced the launch of its first human research study, which is now enrolling participants in Redwood City, California. The company is backed by investors including General Catalyst, reMind Capital, Sunflower Capital, and Scott Sandell.
"Butterfly has already brought ultrasound onto a fully integrated semiconductor chip, giving us a powerful and programmable foundation as we work toward real-time, non-invasive interaction with the brain," said Will Biederman, Founder and CEO of Bridge Neurotech.
Joseph DeVivo, President, CEO, and Chairman of Butterfly Network, said in a statement that "innovators like Bridge are exploring surgery-free approaches to broaden access," adding that the company is "proud our Ultrasound-on-Chip™ technology can help advance that pursuit."
