Sinclair and New Media launch national digital news subscription brand

October 6, 2026 2:30 PM

Sinclair, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBGI) and New Media announced the launch of The National Press, a subscription-based digital news brand that will draw on reporting from approximately 1,200 of Sinclair's local journalists operating across more than 60 content centers in the United States.

The National Press will launch on Substack with free and paid subscription tiers, and will also distribute content through YouTube, podcast networks, and social platforms. Subscribers will receive a daily briefing delivered to their inbox each morning.

New Media, a digital media company founded in 2026 by former journalists and producers at The Free Press, is partnering with Sinclair on the venture.

The brand will debut three original programs hosted by journalist Lyndsay Keith: a daily morning program called The National Press, a weekly program called The National Story, and a weekly discussion program called The National Debate.

"Our journalists cover the communities where national stories begin," said Scott Livingston, Senior Vice President of News at Sinclair. "They know the people, the institutions and the history behind these stories. The National Press will give that reporting national reach without losing the local knowledge that makes it valuable."

Kevin Cotlove, Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer at Sinclair, said the venture "creates a direct relationship with audiences" and "builds a new business around one of Sinclair's core strengths."

Sinclair owns, operates, or provides services to 178 television stations across 79 markets. New Media is based in Los Angeles and New York.
