Investing.com -- Jefferies released shipping data analysis for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 on Tuesday, showing varied performance across Western Australian mining operations.

The firm's proprietary tracking indicates Wodgina lithium exports reached 108,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate equivalent, exceeding consensus estimates by 10% and coming in 4.6% above Jefferies' own expectations. Performance at the site tracked at approximately 29% of the annual guidance midpoint.

Pilgangoora lithium exports totaled 244,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate, below Jefferies estimates by 3.8% but in line with consensus forecasts. The site operated at roughly 23% of guidance midpoint, reflecting additional volumes from the Ngungaju Plant restart in July 2026.

Among iron ore producers, BHP's Western Australia Iron Ore operations shipped 66.2 million tonnes, 2.6% above Jefferies estimates and 4.7% above consensus. Rio Tinto's Pilbara shipments of 83.9 million tonnes came in 2.8% above Jefferies forecasts and 0.6% below consensus.

Fortescue Metals Group shipped 47.2 million tonnes, falling 2.8% below Jefferies estimates and 5.0% below consensus due to fewer departures. Mineral Resources' Pilbara Hub shipments of 2.86 million tonnes exceeded Jefferies estimates by 4.1% and consensus by 10.1%, marking the strongest quarterly performance in five quarters.

Onslow ocean shipments reached 9.22 million tonnes, 0.3% below Jefferies estimates and 0.8% above consensus, operating above the 35 million tonnes per annum nameplate capacity.

Alumina exports increased to approximately 2.59 million tonnes as volumes recovered from earlier cyclone disruption and gas supply constraints. Mineral sands exports fell to roughly 69,000 tonnes, down 25% from the previous quarter and 40% year-over-year.
