Alarm.com launches battery-powered video doorbell for unwired entryways
Alarm.com (Nasdaq: ALRM) has announced the 781B Battery Video Doorbell, a wire-free device designed for entryways where existing doorbell wiring is not available.
The 781B uses a rechargeable battery and Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing installation at locations such as side doors, back doors, detached garages, gates, and sheds. The device does not require connection to a hub or base station.
According to the company, the 781B is the first Alarm.com battery video doorbell to include animal and vehicle detection, alongside people and package detection through Advanced Video Analytics. The doorbell also features Familiar Face Analytics, which can recognize up to five individuals and support customized notifications.
The device includes two-way audio, Call Screen Actions that allow users to trigger connected actions such as unlocking doors or turning on lights, and Perimeter Guard, which combines lights and audio alerts for unwanted visitors. An AI Deterrence feature can deliver AI-generated verbal warnings when a person is detected.

The 781B uses a removable, rechargeable battery that is also compatible with the Alarm.com Volt Series V731B Battery Camera. Optional wiring supports continuous trickle charging. Energy Saver Video Analytics are included to conserve battery life during periods of inactivity.
"The 781B brings intelligent video, proactive deterrence, and connected actions to more entryways," said Dan Kerzner, President of Platforms Business at Alarm.com. "It gives our service providers another strong wireless option for delivering comprehensive video coverage across a property."
The doorbell supports Bluetooth enrollment to assist service provider setup and is compatible with a range of Alarm.com residential and commercial video service packages, with feature availability varying by package.
