Teledyne hits 1.3B infrared pixels for U.S. missile defense network
Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY) announced that its Teledyne Imaging Sensors division has delivered more than 1.3 billion infrared detector pixels in support of the U.S. Space Force and Space Development Agency's (SDA) Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), a low Earth orbit satellite constellation designed for missile warning, tracking, and defense.
According to a company statement, Teledyne has delivered more than 170 infrared focal planes for the SDA Tracking Layer and holds contracts to provide more than 115 additional focal planes. The company has also developed focal plane arrays in formats as large as 6K × 6K and 8K × 8K pixels.
Teledyne said it has been selected to supply infrared focal plane technology for both contracts under the Accelerated Missile Defense Tranche 3 (AMDT3) program. The SDA announced the AMDT3 awards in July 2026. The program is intended to add more than 30 satellites to the Tracking Layer in connection with the Golden Dome for America initiative.

"Teledyne has demonstrated that it is possible to deliver world-class infrared performance at the production rates required for proliferated architectures," said Megan Tremer, President of Teledyne Space Imaging and MEMS.
George Bobb, President and Chief Executive Officer of Teledyne, said the company's investments in manufacturing capacity and product development position it to continue supporting national defense programs.
