Rivian reports record Q3 deliveries, beats estimates, shares rise
Investing.com -- Rivian Automotive reported record third-quarter deliveries on Friday, surpassing analyst expectations following the launch of its lower-priced R2 SUV.
The company manufactured 19,751 vehicles and delivered 19,248 vehicles during the third quarter ended September 30, 2026. This exceeded the average analyst estimate of 18,001 vehicle deliveries, according to data compiled by Visible Alpha. Production took place at the company's manufacturing facility in Normal, Illinois.
Shares of the Irvine, California-based electric vehicle manufacturer rose approximately 2.3% in premarket trading.
The R2, which began reaching customers in June, is viewed by analysts as essential to Rivian's growth plans. The electric vehicle sector faces a difficult U.S. policy environment with the elimination of federal EV tax credits, tariffs, and reduced demand across the industry.
Prior to the R2's introduction, Rivian's consumer vehicle offerings included the R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck, both positioned as premium products.

Rivian also maintained its 2026 delivery forecast of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles, stating that quarterly production and deliveries aligned with expectations. Analysts project the company will deliver 66,685 vehicles in 2026 on average.
The electric vehicle maker increased its annual delivery forecast in July based on stronger demand for the model than anticipated.
The company will report its third-quarter financial results on October 29.
