October 1, 2026 10:01 AM

AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) presented long-term data from its Phase 3 Viti-Up-1 and Viti-Up-2 studies of Rinvoq (upadacitinib) in non-segmental vitiligo, showing continued facial and total body repigmentation through week 76, according to a company press release.

The data were presented at the 2026 European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Congress in Vienna, Austria. Among patients who continued on Rinvoq 15 mg once daily in the open-label extension, the proportion achieving facial repigmentation (F-VASI 75) rose from 33.1% at week 48 to 55.1% at week 76 in Viti-Up-1, and from 27.6% to 47.4% in Viti-Up-2. Total body repigmentation (T-VASI 50) increased from 29.2% to 42.5% in Viti-Up-1, and from 26.2% to 40.1% in Viti-Up-2.

A phototherapy substudy enrolled 84 adults who had not achieved T-VASI 90 at week 48. Participants were re-randomized to receive Rinvoq alone or in combination with narrowband ultraviolet B (NB-UVB) phototherapy twice weekly for 28 weeks. At week 28, patients who had previously received Rinvoq and added NB-UVB phototherapy showed F-VASI 75 and T-VASI 50 rates of 59.3% and 63.0%, respectively, compared with 37.0% and 33.3% for those receiving Rinvoq alone.

Safety results through week 76 and through week 28 of the phototherapy substudy were consistent with the known safety profile of upadacitinib, with no new safety signals reported.

Rinvoq holds European Union approval for non-segmental vitiligo in adults and adolescents 12 years and older who are candidates for systemic therapy. Its use in vitiligo remains under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
