AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN) has appointed Ravi Simhambhatla as Chief Technology and AI Officer, effective October 1, 2026. In the role, he will lead the company's technology, data science, and AI operations, according to a company statement.

Simhambhatla brings more than 30 years of experience in enterprise technology and digital transformation. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at Avis Budget Group, where he oversaw global technology, engineering, infrastructure, and cybersecurity, along with the company's adoption of AI and connected-fleet technology.

Before Avis Budget Group, Simhambhatla held a Managing Director position at Google Cloud, advising enterprises on cloud, data, and AI strategy. He also held senior roles at United Airlines, covering commercial systems, digital commerce, loyalty, and revenue management. Earlier positions include Chief Technology Officer at Aer Lingus, Vice President of Information Technology at Tesla, and Chief Information Officer at Virgin America.

AutoNation CEO Mike Manley attributed the hire to the company's focus on extracting more value from its existing infrastructure. "Technology, data science, and the intelligent use of AI give us the opportunity to get significantly more from that foundation," Manley said in the statement.

Simhambhatla said he looks forward to applying "technology and AI in practical ways—making the Customer journey easier, equipping Associates with better tools and insights, and supporting the Company's next phase of growth."
