American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) has appointed Turab Hussain as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer, effective October 12, 2026. Hussain will report to President and Chief Executive Officer Eric Andersen and will be based at AIG's New York headquarters.

Hussain succeeds Christopher Schaper, who plans to retire from AIG at the end of 2026. Schaper joined AIG in 2019 as CEO of AIG Re and has held several leadership roles, including Global Chief Underwriting Officer from November 2023 to January 2025, and Chief Risk Officer since January 2025.

Since 2023, Hussain has served as AIG's Global Chief Actuary. He joined AIG in 2021 as Chief Risk Officer for General Insurance. Before joining AIG, he was Chief Risk and Actuarial Officer at PartnerRe and Chief Insurance Risk Officer at The Hartford. Earlier roles included positions at Arch Insurance, American Re, and Reliance Insurance.

Andersen said Hussain's experience as Global Chief Actuary and previously as Chief Risk Officer for General Insurance makes him "exceptionally well qualified" for the role.

AIG also announced the appointment of Graham Fulcher as Global Chief Actuary, succeeding Hussain, also effective October 12, 2026. Fulcher, who will be based in London, joined AIG in 2022 as Chief Actuary for International Commercial Insurance. He previously held actuarial and risk consulting roles at Chubb, WTW, and ACE.
