Nu Holdings stock jumps 6% after denying Monzo acquisition
Investing.com -- Nu Holdings Ltd. (NYSE: NU) shares rose 6% in after-hours trading Wednesday after the company denied it is pursuing an acquisition of UK fintech firm Monzo.
The Brazilian digital bank issued a statement addressing recent media speculation about a potential transaction. While noting it has "a great deal of respect for Monzo," the company clarified it is not pursuing a deal with the UK-based challenger bank.
Nu said it regularly evaluates opportunities that could support its growth and long-term objectives, including partnerships, investments and acquisitions, as part of its normal business operations.
The company said it remains focused on its strategic priorities: deepening its position in Brazil, scaling its businesses in Mexico and Colombia, and building its presence in the United States and globally through Nu Global.
Nu’s capital allocation framework remains unchanged, with investment decisions based on strategic fit, expected returns relative to the company’s cost of capital, long-term value creation per share, and the management and financial resources required to execute its priorities.
