Blackfuel picks Digital Realty's Barcelona hub for AI inference
Blackfuel, an inference-focused neocloud, has selected Digital Realty's (NYSE: DLR) BCN1 data center in Barcelona to deploy and scale its AI inference platform, according to a press release from Digital Realty.
The deployment is built on liquid-cooled Dell Technologies AI Factory infrastructure and AMD GPUs. Blackfuel's inference platform is integrated with Digital Realty's ServiceFabric®, a software-defined interconnection platform that spans more than 800 Digital Realty and third-party data centers worldwide.
The integration allows AI inference services to be delivered through private connectivity, providing a low-latency network path. According to the release, for agentic workflows requiring 20 to 50 sequential inference API calls, reducing Time-to-First-Token by 50 milliseconds through ServiceFabric® can shorten overall task completion time by 1 to 2.5 seconds compared with public internet connectivity.

"By bringing Blackfuel's inference platform onto ServiceFabric®, enterprises can reach high-performance AI services on the same connected ecosystem where their applications and data already live," said Chris Sharp, Chief Technology Officer at Digital Realty. "Barcelona is the first proof point, and we're excited to help Blackfuel scale from here."
Through the ServiceFabric® connection, Blackfuel can reach enterprises, cloud providers and networks across Digital Realty's global platform. Blackfuel described the Barcelona deployment as its first step toward broader geographic expansion of dedicated AI inference capacity.
Digital Realty operates more than 300 data center facilities across 55 metros in more than 30 countries.
