NetApp and SAP plan deeper cloud infrastructure integration
NetApp announced plans to expand its partnership with SAP, with the two companies intending to explore deeper integration of NetApp capabilities into SAP Cloud Infrastructure, SAP's Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform, according to a press release from NetApp.
The NetApp Platform currently supports elements of the SAP Cloud Infrastructure storage architecture, providing file and block storage services along with data protection and replication capabilities. The collaboration is intended to support SAP's global cloud infrastructure footprint across multiple regions and availability zones, while addressing compliance requirements specific to certain countries and industries.
"By bringing together SAP Cloud Infrastructure with the NetApp Platform, we can empower customers to build an intelligent data infrastructure that delivers the agility, resilience, performance and security required to take on the most demanding tasks and complex problems across the most demanding environments," said Álvaro Celis, Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial, Partner and Ecosystem Officer at NetApp.

Jonathan Bletscher, SVP and Head of Infrastructure Platform Engineering & Delivery at SAP SE, said the two companies are "exploring ways to strengthen the infrastructure and data layer that enables SAP applications, SAP Business AI Platform and customer workloads to run with the performance, availability and security our customers expect."
NetApp also said it plans to explore joint go-to-market initiatives with SAP focused on helping customers migrate and operate SAP and non-SAP workloads on SAP Cloud Infrastructure. The companies additionally plan to evaluate NetApp Object storage within SAP Cloud Infrastructure, including a technical validation.
NetApp noted that statements regarding unreleased offerings and future plans are subject to change and do not constitute a commitment of any kind.
