NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) presented the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with its 2026 Social Impact Award for Intelligent Data for Good at the NetApp INSIGHT 2026 conference in Las Vegas, held September 29 through October 1.

The award is part of NetApp's Social Impact Awards program, which recognizes customers and partners using NetApp technology in support of social or environmental initiatives. IUCN was selected for its data infrastructure, which the company says supports biodiversity conservation research and international policy work.

IUCN has assessed more than 175,900 species on its Red List of Threatened Species and operates across more than 160 countries. The organization comprises more than 1,600 government and civil society member organizations and approximately 19,000 volunteer experts.

According to the press release, IUCN's use of NetApp's platform has provided field researchers, scientists, and policymakers with continuous access to conservation data. The implementation also resulted in a reduction in power consumption, per the release.

"Data is at the heart of everything we do, from assessing threatened species to shaping international environmental policy," said Francois Jolles, Chief Information Officer at IUCN. "Trusted, resilient infrastructure gives our experts reliable access to critical conservation data, enabling us to turn knowledge into meaningful results for nature and people around the world."

César Cernuda, President at NetApp, said IUCN has "built a resilient, sustainable data foundation that gives researchers, scientists, and policymakers reliable access to the information they need to help protect biodiversity."
