Weight Watchers and Google Health team up for employer weight programs
WW International, Inc. (NASDAQ: WW), operating as Weight Watchers, announced a collaboration with Google Health Enterprise to combine wearable technology with its weight management program, according to a company press release dated Sept. 29, 2026.
The partnership is initially available through select Weight Watchers for Business client programs in the employer-sponsored market. Eligible members can gain access to Google Fitbit Air and Google Health Premium after completing required activity and duration milestones.
The collaboration allows members to connect a Fitbit Air device to their Weight Watchers account to access data on activity, sleep, and other health metrics. Employers and health plans are the primary targets for the offering, which Weight Watchers positions as part of its broader suite of weight health benefits.
Scott Honken, PharmD, Chief Commercial Officer at Weight Watchers, said the collaboration "expands access and strengthens connection across that journey, complementing personalized experiences like our GLP-1 Success Program and Med+ virtual clinic to help deliver the outcomes clients count on and members expect."

Jeff Hamel, Managing Director of Home and Health Partnerships at Google, said the partnership aims to deliver "actionable insights into those everyday moments—empowering members to build lasting routines while giving employers a proven driver for long-term engagement."
The press release cited several data points in support of the collaboration. A six-month clinical trial of 153 Weight Watchers participants found that those who tracked food at least five days a week lost four times more weight than those who tracked fewer than three days a week. A separate study found that adding a Fitbit to a health program increases activity by an average of 950 steps per day. A Nature Medicine study found that Fitbit wearers who walked more each day had a 25% lower risk of type 2 diabetes compared to those who walked less.
Google Health Premium, which is required for certain features of the collaboration, is sold separately and requires the Google Health app, Wi-Fi, and an internet connection.
