EVgo previews 750kW next-generation charger set for 2027 rollout
EVgo Inc. (Nasdaq: EVGO) has shared a preview of a next-generation electric vehicle charging system capable of delivering up to 750kW of charging power, with full deployment expected to begin in 2027.
Design, development, and testing are underway at EVgo's Innovation Lab in El Segundo, California, with co-development support from Delta Electronics. The final charger design is expected to be unveiled in 2027.
The new system will include dynamic power sharing, which automatically adjusts energy distribution in real time across dispensers based on each vehicle's needs. The chargers will feature NACS connectors, touchless payment interfaces, and improved cable maneuverability. According to the company, the system is expected to charge the fastest-charging vehicles in the U.S. market in approximately 10 minutes, though actual times will vary based on vehicle settings, battery condition, and other factors.

EVgo CEO Badar Khan said charge rates on the network have risen nearly 20% over the past two years. "We expect that to continue, and our new architecture will help meet growing demand for high-power charging," Khan said.
The company states it is among a small number of American charging networks to design its own chargers. EVgo reported having 1.8 million customer accounts and analyzing data from over 10 million charging sessions per year.
