Napo Pharmaceuticals crofelemer study accepted for ACG 2026 meeting

September 29, 2026 6:03 AM

Napo Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Jaguar Health, Inc. (NASDAQ: JAGX), announced that an abstract on preliminary results from an ongoing open-label study of crofelemer powder for oral solution in adult patients with short bowel syndrome with intestinal failure (SBS-IF) has been accepted for presentation at the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Scientific Meeting (ACG 2026), scheduled for October 9-14, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Napo is also conducting a separate multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled Phase 2 clinical trial in adult Type 1 SBS patients without colon-in-continuity. Results from that trial are expected in the first half of 2027.

In June 2026, data from ongoing investigational studies of oral liquid crofelemer in pediatric patients with intestinal failure due to microvillus inclusion disease (MVID) and SBS-IF were presented at the 58th Annual European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition meeting in Lille, France. Those results showed reductions in weekly parenteral support needs in pediatric patients dosed orally for more than one year, with no significant clinical or laboratory abnormalities reported.

Jaguar Health has stated it plans to file a New Drug Application for crofelemer for MVID in mid-2027.

Patients with intestinal failure, including those with SBS or MVID, require lifelong total parenteral nutrition with or without supplemental intravenous fluids, which can be required up to seven days per week and more than 20 hours per day.
