Virtu Financial launches block trading for Saudi Exchange equities

September 28, 2026 7:02 AM

Virtu Financial, Inc. (NYSE: VIRT) announced the launch of its POSIT block-trading indications network for equity securities listed on the Saudi Exchange, according to a company press release dated Sept. 28, 2026.

The network covers 245 of the most liquid Saudi Exchange-listed securities, giving Saudi Exchange members and their institutional clients access to Virtu's global block liquidity network. Al Rajhi Capital serves as Virtu's regional partner, providing connectivity, brokerage, and post-trade services for firms that are not direct Saudi Exchange members.

Virtu is using the Saudi Exchange's Negotiated Deals facility, a fully electronic platform, to complete block trades sourced through the POSIT system. All trades will settle on a T+2 basis through The Securities Depository Center Company (Edaa). Aggregation capabilities will also be available to investors accessing the network.

State Street Investment Management conducted the first transaction on the platform. Graham Sorrell, Head of EMEA & APAC Equity and Currency Trading at State Street Investment Management, said, "Availability of block liquidity can lower the implementation cost of equity transactions, which benefits our clients, so we are pleased to use the new POSIT facility."

Rob Boardman, CEO of Virtu Execution Services, EMEA, credited the Saudi Exchange and local partners Al Rajhi Capital and Arqaam Capital for enabling the initiative. Hossam Basrawi, CEO of Al Rajhi Capital, described the launch as reflecting "commitment to developing the electronic trading ecosystem of Saudi Arabia."
