Fluor and Balfour Beatty open $677M Oak Hill Parkway in Austin
A joint venture between Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) and Balfour Beatty has completed the Oak Hill Parkway project in southwest Austin, Texas, opening the reconstructed roadway to traffic.
The $677 million project, part of the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) Clear Lanes initiative, reconstructed and widened approximately seven miles of U.S. 290 and SH 71 through Oak Hill from two to three main lanes in each direction. Construction began in 2021.
Key improvements include direct-connect flyovers between U.S. 290 and SH 71, new U.S. 290 overpasses at William Cannon Drive, and the replacement of a former Y-interchange with a single-point urban interchange. The project also added new frontage roads and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, including shared-use paths.

Shawn West, president of Fluor's Infrastructure business, said the project "transformed a critical transportation corridor that will improve the daily travel experience for thousands of Texans for years to come."
The roadway is now fully open to traffic. Remaining work, including landscaping, paving, and striping, is expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to a company press release.
