Unity adds engine support for Meta VR Glasses ahead of 2027 launch

September 24, 2026 2:21 PM

Unity (NYSE: U) announced engine support for Meta VR Glasses, a VR device unveiled at Meta Connect, with availability starting immediately — ahead of the device's planned retail launch in spring 2027.

Developers can access the support through Unity 6.6 or higher combined with the Meta XR All-in-One SDK v207. Existing Quest apps are compatible with Meta VR Glasses, and studios using OpenXR can carry titles forward using current workflows.

Several studios are already building for the device, including those behind Cardmada, Dragon Grove, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies VR, Dice Throne Digital, Story of Seasons, Supernatural, and Two Point Hospital – Mixed Reality Edition.

The updated engine support includes expanded eye and hand tracking, a rendering mode designed to reduce GPU load, enhanced spatial audio, and the ability to test Meta VR Glasses interactions within the Unity Editor without a physical device.

"Whether a studio adds hands-on support to a Quest title or builds something new for VR Glasses, it's one codebase that can be used across multiple devices, enabling developers to reach more players on more platforms with less friction," said Alex Blum, COO of Unity.

James Senior, CEO of Supernatural, said Unity allowed the studio to go "from a fresh repo to an end-to-end playable Supernatural workout in under two months."
