Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) has launched a drone delivery pilot at its Matthews, N.C., store, offering select home improvement products to customers in as fast as 20 minutes, according to a company statement dated Sept. 24, 2026.

Customers can place orders through the DoorDash app by selecting a dedicated "Lowe's by Drone" storefront. Wing drones handle delivery for orders weighing approximately 2.5 pounds per flight. Eligible products include hand tools, paint products, soap, tape, all-purpose cleaner, and batteries.

The service is available to customers within a qualifying delivery radius of the Matthews, N.C., location. The drone delivery option appears automatically in the DoorDash app when a delivery address is eligible.

Lowe's describes the pilot as an addition to its existing same-day fulfillment options, which include buy online pick up in store, curbside pickup, and same-day delivery. The launch builds on Wing and DoorDash's existing drone delivery operations already active in the Charlotte area.

"By piloting drone delivery, we're addressing a real project pain point with an innovative solution that is integrated into the retail journey, giving our hometown customers next-generation fulfillment right when they need it," said Seemantini Godbole, chief information and AI officer at Lowe's.

The company also noted that its AI assistant tools, Mylow and Mylow Companion, have collectively answered more than 25 million questions since launching in 2025.
