Quantum BioPharma licensee Unbuzzd names new CEO, eyes stock listing
Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM) announced that its licensee, Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., has appointed Michael "Zappy" Zapolin as chief executive officer, according to a press release. Zapolin's mandate includes securing financing, listing Unbuzzd on a stock exchange, and executing a commercial marketing and product rollout in the United States.
Zapolin began his career at Bear Stearns before becoming an early internet entrepreneur associated with domains including Beer.com and CreditCards.com. He later co-founded KetaMD, an at-home ketamine telemedicine company acquired by Braxia Scientific in 2022. He is a graduate of Boston University and Harvard Business School's Owner/President Management Program.
Richard Buzbuzian, the previous CEO, is assisting with the transition to a publicly listed company, which Unbuzzd said is scheduled to go effective in the next quarter.
Unbuzzd's product is a ready-to-mix powder stick described as an alcohol metabolism supplement. A peer-reviewed clinical study published in the World Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research (2026, volume 12, issue 3) reported that the product reduced blood alcohol concentration at a rate more than 40% faster within 30 minutes compared to control subjects, and showed statistically significant reductions in hangover symptoms.
Quantum BioPharma holds a 19.48% ownership stake in Unbuzzd as of June 30, 2026, and is entitled to royalty payments of 7% of sales until cumulative payments reach $250 million, after which the royalty rate drops to 3% in perpetuity.
Unbuzzd's product is currently available on Amazon and its own website in 3-pack, 8-pack, and 18-pack formats. The company's stated distribution strategy targets pharmacies, liquor stores, supermarkets, mass merchandisers, convenience stores, and college stores.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not evaluated or approved Unbuzzd for the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease. Individual results may vary.
