UiPath announces new AI testing features for its Test Cloud platform

September 23, 2026 8:36 AM

UiPath, Inc. (NYSE: PATH) announced new and planned enhancements to its Test Cloud platform, including autonomous test execution, AI-powered application exploration, and integration with the open-source Playwright testing framework, according to a company press release.

The new capabilities are designed to reduce manual maintenance work in software testing and expand automated coverage across enterprise application portfolios. UiPath described the effort as part of a longer-term vision it calls a "dark testing factory," in which testing operates as a continuous, largely automated process.

Key features and their expected availability include:

Autonomous test execution via UiPath Autopilot, which can interpret and run manual tests without prebuilt automation scripts, expected in October 2026. Autonomous Exploration, allowing an AI agent to investigate an application based on a defined goal and report findings, also expected in October 2026. Playwright integration, enabling teams using the open-source framework to connect existing tests to UiPath's Test Manager, with a public preview planned for October 2026. UiPath Delegate, a computer-use agent for automating routine workflows around test runs, also entering public preview in October 2026. Testing for AI-infused applications, using semantic and AI-based verification to assess variable outputs, with a public preview targeted for December 2026.

"AI-generated code is widening the gap between software development and testing," said Gerd Weishaar, SVP of Product, Testing Solutions at UiPath. "Test Cloud lets quality engineering teams hand more of the routine testing work to AI agents, including creating and maintaining automations, so they can focus on improving the testing environment and setting agents up to work effectively."

The company noted that quality engineering teams would retain responsibility for risk and release decisions under the proposed model, with AI handling more routine execution and maintenance tasks.
