Mexico's air force acquires second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 aircraft
Mexico's Fuerza AƩrea Mexicana (FAM) has announced the acquisition of a second Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, according to a press release from Lockheed Martin.
The acquisition follows the FAM's first C-130J-30 purchase, announced in January 2026, which the company described as making Mexico the first nation in Latin America to join the global Super Hercules fleet. The C-130J-30 is a stretch variant of the C-130J, adding 15 feet of cargo space compared to the standard model.
The first aircraft was deployed to deliver emergency supplies, medical aid, and personnel following twin earthquakes in Venezuela. Lockheed Martin stated the second aircraft will double that response capability.

"The C-130J is the backbone of global airlift, and Mexico's continued investment underscores confidence in a platform that delivers decades of operational readiness, unmatched versatility and seamless interoperability with U.S. and allied forces," said Trish Pagan, vice president of Lockheed Martin's Air Mobility & Maritime Missions.
The C-130J-30 features advanced avionics and is certified across 20 mission sets, including airdrop, search and rescue, firefighting, medevac, and special operations. Lockheed Martin states its global C-130J fleet currently exceeds 570 aircraft.
Mexico has operated C-130 Hercules aircraft for more than five decades across disaster response, military operations, and other missions.
